Right after my second eye surgery, Chris and Tiff approached me and suggested a trip to Hawaii when I had recovered. I (of course) found this to be an excellent idea, and promptly agreed. Then Elly and I started seeing each other, and after a bit of confusion over the dates of the trip, she agreed to accompany us!
May 29th through April 6th
1: Pre-dawn light on Kailua beach, the morning of the first day |
2: A sandcastle has survived the night unscathed |
7: We decided to circumnavigate Oahu, and stopped at a botanical garden |
11: Chris protects Ella from the obstreperous waterfowl |
12: Forty-seven mallards took a somewhat humourous (or somewhat unnerving, if you're only three feet tall) interest in our little group |
13: They might have recognized the Starbucks bag in Tiff's hand as a potential food source |
14: A particularly spectacular flower, in a particularly lacklustre photo |
20: 'Didn't he see the signs? He knows we're not allowed to eat the flowers!' |
22: I'm fairly sure that these were spore nodules, rather than infection blisters |
34: And here's a stitched panorama of the tropical, yet Tolkein-esque scene |
35: Elly descends from the viewpoint where we saw the misty mountains |
40: And we went to a fabric store to look at, well, fabric |
